I am currently working as a consultant for DeSales University to develop their new Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program. I am creating the curriculum and syllabi to align with national nursing standards. I am also selecting text books, writing course outlines, choosing supplemental readings, and making PowerPoint presentations.
Psychoeducation Group on Professionalism and Sexuality for Intellectually Disabled Teenagers
I created, implemented, and evaluated a psychoeducational group intervention for intellectually disabled teenagers enrolled in Vanderbilt Hospital's Project Opportunity. The purpose of this group was to create a cohesive and affirming atmosphere to educate about and discuss professionalism and sexuality.
Art Therapy with Stroke Patients at Drake Rehabilitation Center
As a freshman in college, my painting professor was fascinated with my decision to double major in nursing and art. We were both intrigued with the overlap between these careers. Together we developed a program connecting art students with patients undergoing stroke rehabilitation. Every other Saturday, we spent four hours painting with these patients to help them regain strength and feel empowered. At the end of each semester we held an art show and invited the patients’ families.
Concept Map Illustrating Weight Dysregulation in the Schizophrenic Population
I developed a concept map illustrating weight dysregulation in the schizophrenic population prescribed atypical antipsychotic medication. This concept map was included in a synthesis of evidence evaluating the effect of cognitive behavioral interventions in mitigating antipsychotic induced weight gain.
Needs Assessment for a Community Mental Health Center in Nashville, TN
Through a retrospective chart review, I identified a significant number of vital sign reporting errors at a community mental health center. I designed an educational intervention targeted at those personnel who were measuring and reporting patient vital signs. The intervention was evaluated using a pre and post survey, and by measuring the number of vital sign reporting errors two months later.

Patient-Provider Benzodiazepine Contract
Prescribing and monitoring benzodiazepine is complex and challenging. A literature review revealed evidence of improved outcomes with patient-provider opiate contracts. Using various templates from this research, I developed a contract that I used in my own practice.
