Since I started Modern Nurse, I've received more emails than I can count asking questions about scrubs. Well, I'm hear to say that I've heard your call, and I've got an answer.
Majority of my most engaged (and wonderful!) readers are either nurse practitioners or nurse practitioner students. The question's I've received fall into three main categories:
They sent me a few samples, and I put them to the test in a variety of settings. Let's just say, I am giddy with excitement! I finally found a style I like and a brand I trust! The scrub jacket included in the EON Collection is the first flattering scrub jacket I've ever worn. Included below is more information about the company, the EON Collection, and my thoughts about the products.

The Maevn EON Collection
Maevn’s EON Collection is a scrub separates and jacket line made with a blend of CoolMax Everyday Fabric. CoolMax Everyday Fabric is designed to keep professionals cool and dry for comfort and performance. Fabric benefits include:
When purchasing clothes online, I inevitably worry about picking the right size. I included the size chart below for your reference. As an additional data point, I ordered XS tops and S bottoms (regular inseam), and my measurements are 35 chest, 25 waist, 36 hip, and I'm 5' 4" and 125 lbs. The XS tops and S bottoms fit just right. The pants were the right length for me.
The EON Collection primarily comes in wine, royal blue, true navy, lavender, pewter, and black. I received samples in true navy, black, and wine. The colors are bold, bright, and haven't faded at all after two washes. I am particularly fond of wine (deep magenta-red), because it is unique and somewhat expressive. It pairs well with black. Other colors include: cool blue, teal blue, Caribbean blue, hunter green, red, and white.
My Favorite: Mesh Panel Jacket
The Mesh Panel Jacket was by far my favorite piece of the EON Collection line! I ordered it in XS and the color wine (shown in picture), and I want to order another in true navy now! I love, love, love this jacket, and if you only pick one thing from the EON collection, pick this!
At work, I paired this jacket with the black Mesh Panel Pant. It was incredibly comfortable: loose around my upper arms with soft stretchy material that didn't itch my skin. It was also extremely practical: large front pockets and half rib-trim cuffs so I could easily pull up my sleeves.
Aside the comfort and practicality, the jacket looked really sleek. I got two compliments (from strangers) while at work. Later in the week, I paired the jacket with black skinny jeans and boots and another stranger (outside of the healthcare industry) came up to me and asked where I got it! When I told her it was a scrub jacket she was so surprised!
Be aware that the jacket is narrow. You can see on the model below that the jacket fits snuggly across her non-hips, so you can imagine it was tight on my 36" hips. I was still able to zip up the XS, but it was tight enough that I left it unzipped most of the day. I will say, because the jacket is so narrow it was very flattering and gave the illusion that I was tall and slim, which I liked!
Other Maevn Products
Maevn Uniforms has lots of other collections besides the EON Collection:
I also liked the look of the PrimaFlex Collection. The inside of the tops are printed so that when you roll up the sleeves, you get a hint of a pattern. I like this unique look because you can add a splash of color without wearing a full patterned shirt. Purchase on Amazon.
Overall, I am super excited about Maevn Uniforms. They clearly demonstrate an interest in both the nurse practitioner market and the creation of professional, comfortable, and trendy collections. I was impressed with the entire EON Collection especially the Mesh Panel Jacket, which is by far the most flattering scrub jacket I have ever worn!

Need a new interview outfit? Need an entire closet make-over but can't quite find the time between making dinner for 5 and finishing your progress notes? Want a new stunning dress for the upcoming Holiday party, but at a complete loss because last time you looked at a fashion magazine it must have been 2004?
Being anything but a fashionista myself, I couldn't contain my excitement when I discovered Stitch Fix. Stitch Fix is an online personal shopper start-up company. You develop a "style profile" and they pick out clothes and mail them to you. Yes, you heard me right...
...THEY DO YOUR SHOPPING FOR YOU.
I can hear a sigh of relief from my fellow nurses. It's hard enough staying up-to-date with all the latest neuroscience discoveries and pharmaceuticles, let alone find time to go shopping. Who doesn't like to look presentable, let alone, fashionable, at work or on a date after a long week of night shifts? And, for all those lucky ones out there who get to wear scrubs instead of business professional, I'm sure you would still like a cute girls-night-out outfit.
The Stitch Fix process is really simple and kind of fun. First you create an account and fill out a bunch of questions about your personal preferences to start a "style profile." You can also create a Stitch Fix Pinterest board (check out mine) and link it to your account so as to provide examples of clothes you particularly like. Then, the personal stylists at Stitch Fix mail you 5 different clothing/accessory items and you get to try on everything at home. In the end, you purchase what you want to keep, send back what you don't (no shipping fee!), and pay a $20 styling fee. The $20 styling fee is subtracted from your total order, and if you purchase everything, you get a 25% discount.
I'm telling you, this is the kind of innovative, creative destruction we need to see in the healthcare industry. This is fantastic. Has anyone tried Stitch Fix before? Any good or bad results? I don't know about you guys, but I am adding this to my birthday wish list.
This morning I stumbled across an AWESOME blog: Thirty Eight Five by critical care nurse Natalie. Named after the degrees Celsius for a brewing fever, her blog follows her life as a nurse, patient, and chef. And boy is she a chef! Her recipes look unbelievable. You gotta check out the mango slush, raw cocoa butter protein balls, and AIP banana pudding. Natalie discusses her own journey with ulcerative colitis; from the diagnosis through her fear and into her new life of healthy living. Her story is beautiful and touching. Her honesty jumps off the screen. I'm telling you, this blog is just awesome. And, it comes with the perks of great recipes. It is a must read!
